External Auditory Canal Mass: A Case Series of Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Introduction: Squamous cell carcinoma of the temporal bone is extremely rare comprising 0.2% all tumors head and neck. Symptoms are nonspecific may be mistaken for other more benign conditions as otitis, cholesteatoma polyp. Hence, this condition present a diagnostic challenge. Case Discussion: We describe case series three patients who presented with external auditory canal (EAC) mass. The most common signs symptoms pruritus, decreased hearing yellowish discharge. They were initially treated otic antibiotics which afforded no relief. first 51 year-old female underwent wide excision right ear middle mass craniotomy. Histopathology showed moderately differentiated squamous tumor subdural extension consistent metastasis. second 53 male refused surgical management. He was non-compliant work-up follow-up later on left facial asymmetry headache. CT scan inner to protrusion into cerebellar hemisphere. Punch biopsy EAC done pathologic report well-differentiated carcinoma. Lastly, 54 year old Radical mastoidectomy histopathology reports Conclusion: Standard treatment modality still unclear because rarity condition. However, resection negative margins followed by concurrent chemotherapy radiation commonly performed approach1. For above-mentioned patients, therapy given significant response.
